Frequently Asked

Questions

Are you unsure what a licensed Naturopathic Doctor (ND) even is?

I get this question A LOT. Ironically, this question is how my husband and I met (that's a story for another time though). Licensed Naturopathic Doctors attend an accredited 4-year naturopathic medical school, very similar to traditional MD and DOs.

In addition to all that traditional western medicine training, we also receive additional training in clinical nutrition, physical medicine, herbal medicine, homeopathy, and acupuncture. After graduating we are then required to pass professional board exams and maintain licensure through yearly renewal with continuing medical education requirements.

So, how are NDs different?

Great question! Our training is more inclusive of additional forms of treatment (see answer above), but our core principles really set us apart from any other healthcare providers.

Naturopathic Medicine was founded on 6 main principles (don't mind the latin):
- Primum non nocere or First do no harm
- Vis Medicatrix Naturae or The healing power of nature
- Tolle causam or Identify and treat the cause
- Tolle totum or Treat the whole person
- Docere or Doctor as teacher
- Praevenire or Prevention

But can NDs prescribe medications if I need it?

YES, we can and sometimes do prescribe medications when appropriate. In fact, given our extensive education in herbal medicine we understand and are more prepared to handle interactions that can occur between supplements and medications.

Ever want to talk with your doctor and always get the nurse?

Our patients receive personalized care and access to their physician 24/7. Direct messages can be sent to our physicians through your online patient portal or by calling our office. This includes those emergency calls at 2 am when your kid inevitably spikes a fever.

Just had a baby and need to get in quick?

We reserve appointment times just for you! No need to stress, just give us a call when baby is born and we will get you in as early as the next day (or later if you're still in the hospital). Also, if you found us while still pregnant you can schedule your complimentary 15-minute consultation to feel prepared and make bringing baby home less stressful.

What if I can't make my appointment?

We completely understand, life happens. If you're unable to attend an appointment simply let us know at least 48 hours in advance for new patients and 24 hours in advance for established patients. Life didn't give you enough notice? Just let us know as soon as you can, but late cancellations may be charged $100 no show fee.

Any recommendations for supplements?

We utilize two online medicinary services for professional grade nutritional supplements, Wellevate and FullScript. You will also receive 10% off supplement pricing as our way of saying thank you for your business. Prescription medications will go to your preferred pharmacy.

Interested in using insurance?

Although we do not bill directly to insurance companies, superbills (insurance documents) are available for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Patients are typically reimbursed based on their out-of-network provider coverage. Your insurance company will be able to provide you with more specific information regarding coverage. Payments are due at time of service (or in advance for packages). We accept cash and all major credit cards, including HSA or FSA cards too.

Want to bring the whole family? No need to stress.

We offer discounted pricing for family members. Families of 2 receive 10% off and families of 3(or more) receive 15% off. We want to make this a family affair.

Can I refer all my friends?

Referrals are our love language. There's no bigger compliment than a patient coming in saying you sent them in with rave reviews. And we'll send a special thank you your way too.
